Happy BIG 30 and 5!

That's right. James is now officially 30 and old! Happy Birthday sweet husband of mine! I love yah!

Today is also our 5 year anniversary. This actually works out really well for the both of us because it means one less date to remember, and of course, forget. While I can't believe we have already been married for 5 years, it also feels like we have always been together. It's been a great 5 years and we are so happy to be able to share this anniversary with our cute little baby boy Joshua.

Recent Happenings in the Life of Joshua...

We recently bought Joshua his first highchair. We were using the bumbo for a while, but he started to try and tip out of it which made me a little nervous so we upgraded. I absolutely love our new highchair. It's a peg perego prima pappa diner. It's a little pricey for sure, but well worth it I think.

Joshua has started to get a little nervous around strangers. This is magnified times 10 when he is feeling tired and consequently, fussy. So if you look at him and he starts to bawl, don't worry, most likely it's not just your face that caused the tears, he's just a little nervous around people right now. Hopefully this faze won't last too long... he even got scared the other day when James tried to play with him, which has never happened before. He just LOVES his daddy!

Joshua is also getting his 1st tooth! I don't know why, but the appearance of his 1st tooth has made him no longer feel like my little newborn baby anymore. How sad. He's getting all grown up! And yes, I know that the above photo has nothing to do with anything, I just thought it was too cute not to post.

Rhubarb Pie and the Works

Last Sunday James (and Joshua of course) went over to his parents' house for dinner while I worked a shift at the hospital. First off, my mother-in-law makes dinner for us pretty much every Sunday. She doesn't just throw a couple things together either. We always have amazing dinners with tons of home grown veggies and stuff. As if this isn't nice enough, when I got home from work on Sunday I not only had a huge yummy dinner waiting for me that she sent home with James, but she had also sent home an entire rhubarb pie ! Talk about an awesome mother-in-law.

Supposed "Emergency"

For anyone that doesn't know, I have some of the cutest nieces in the world. Seriously. You can't get any cuter than this. Want an example? How about a few?

A bunch of my family was hanging out until pretty late at my house a couple weeks ago so my sister Sharon decided to put her little girl Alex to bed at our house. Now because kids will use almost any excuse to get out of bed at night, my sister Sharon has made a "no getting out of bed unless it is an emergency" policy. Of course kids end up having their own interpretations of such policies. This night, for example, Alex came upstairs after several minutes with a very serious emergency... she had forgotten to give everyone a hug. How can you say no to something so cute! Just look at her too (above), she is so darling!

Also, one day she happened to see an ant with wings. "What is this mommy?" "It's an ant that has wings", my sister responded. Alex asked why the ant had wings, and my sister replied that Jesus made them like that. My niece kind of just stared for a minute, then went off on her little way to play. Several minutes later my sister heard her telling her toys "Silly Jesus, ants don't have wings".

My sister in law went into the bathroom one day and discovered one of her girls taking a bit of a bath in the sink. Where do they come up with these ideas?

She has also discovered that her new little brother's things are a lot more interesting than her own toys...

Her sister Sophie is trying to follow in her dad's footsteps...and at such a young age! Anyone need a new pediatrician?

So many more cute things they (along with all my other nieces) do, just don't have any pics that depict them. And what's a blog without some good pics?

Joshua at 7 Months

Our little boy is growing up! He's getting more and more coordinated and sits up by himself with no help. He has been sick recently so his sleeping habits have slipped a bit, but hopefully we'll be able to get him back on track soon. I uploaded a few pictures here:

Smoking Mom = Smoking Baby

Yesterday at work a mom brought in her newborn that was having some breathing problems. When I helped her back to her room I carried her diaper bag for her and noticed there was a pack of cigarettes in it. Can you think of anything worse to put in a diaper bag, especially when you are bringing your baby to the ER for breathing problems? People sure are pathetic sometimes.
