Why no "face lift" will be happening here...

James is very particular about some things. One of these things being anything that has to do with the layout of an Internet page. He requires absolute professionalism, even if it has to do with our blog. When I first started blogging on our blog and placed a incorrectly sized picture I definitely heard about it from him. Apparently there is a proper picture size. Since I've pretty much taken over the family blog (and what used to be simply his blog--sorry friends of James) I've slowly been able to sneak in a few changes and he hasn't seemed to mind. But don't expect to see any cute holiday backgrounds any day soon. {sulk}

Service Smervice

So I tried to do some good ole fashioned service today. You know, the kind that makes you feel all good inside. The problem is, after I finished shoveling a few people's driveways and miles of sidewalk the snow melted before anyone could even notice. Now, I wasn't really looking to get congratulated or anything, but it would have been nice if someone would have had the chance to think "Oh, wow, someone shoveled the driveway for me. How nice. I feel special now."

Is that too much to ask?

Ok, so I still feel a little bit good inside, but I'm a tad annoyed with the sun today.

My Spoon Skills

Guess What! My mom finally decided to hand me my very own spoon the day I turned 14 months old. I've only been trying to grab it from her since I was 6 months old! It took me a couple of tries and then I was feeding myself like a pro. Mom says I'm a bit messy but I don't know what she's talking about.

I can even feed myself with my eyes closed.

Family Filled Weekend

My family got together on Friday, Saturday and Sunday a couple weekends ago. We got together to celebrate my Grandpa's 88th birthday, to have lunch, go on a hike and have a dinner/game night. I don't know why all the family activities ended up being crammed into one weekend, but it was tons of fun regardless. It's too bad we don't get to hang out with each other more often.

Hiking up Rock Canyon...

Alex and Joshua

Joshua playing with my cousin's dog. He was a bit nervous at first, (ok, so freaked out he wouldn't stop crying) but eventually got used to the dogs and wouldn't leave them alone. He especially loved practicing his dog sign with them.

Joshua picked up the practice of "begging" from the dogs.

Mommy, the cupboard took my socks!

This was one of those moments when I was really glad to have a camera on hand. Notice how Joshua managed to close the door on both his socks.

After a few frantic moments over not being able to get his feet and socks out from the door Joshua decided to make a run for it and got away with one of the socks intact.

Then he came back to get the other one.

Seriously So Blessed

So I was seriously about to post something like this the other day...

I decided to take a look at a blog that kept popping up on other people's "favorite blog sections" on their blogs. I don't usually spend my time looking at people's blogs that I don't know since I have enough blogs to look at as it is, (not that I don't enjoying looking at my friend's/family's blogs, I do, really) but I decided to make an exception this once due to it's popularity. And now I'm a little bit confused. I mean, is she SERIOUS or is she really the equivalent of a high school cheerleader times 10?

Then I was brought up to date by my friend and this blog and it's owner went from totally insane to totally freak'n awesome in a matter of minutes. Check it out. It's hilarious and true...whether we like to think so or not.

It's like one person with all the extreme or annoying mommy/mormon/girly traits all in one. Individually you can be OK with just a few of these traits, but together you can only be seriously so blessed, which, thankfully, isn't so serious.

The Face Wash Bully

I was at walmart the other day going through checkout when the checker decided to strike up a conversation about one of the products I was purchasing (a neutrogenia acne face wash).

"So, do you like this neutrogenia face wash?"
"Um, yeah, I guess it's ok."
"They have great acne face washes."
"Oh. I just like the brand."
"Have you tried proactive. I love their mask..................."{blah, blah, blah}

Now, face wash isn't exactly my favorite thing to talk about but I'd be willing to throw a word or two out there if someone really wants to talk to me about it. But did he really have to keep going on and on about the "acne" part of the face wash? Gees Louise. That's not exactly the favorite subject of a 25 year old female-- especially with a complete stranger in a checkout stand with other people standing all around her. Thanks a lot for pointing out to the entire store that, even at this post adolescent age, I still don't have pristine clear skin. Thanks so very much. I'm pretty sure I would have preferred talking about anything else in that situation, even tampons. Maybe I should have brought that up. That probably would have put a halt to this conversation.

Anyway, as you can imagine, I went home feeling really good about myself after this. So good that I didn't want to go out in public for a couple days.

Put your right leg out, put your left leg out...that's what it's all about!

I found Joshua like this when I looked at him in the video monitor during one of his naps yesterday. I decided to go into his room to move his legs so that he wouldn't wake up and hurt himself or get scared. Amazingly he stayed asleep when I walked into his room and I was able to get some fun pictures.

Even more amazingly he stayed asleep when I moved his feet back into the crib.

Here are two of his other favorite positions to sleep in. He's even started to shove his head into any corner throughout the day. I'm not sure if he's doing this for fun or to tell me that he's tired. Either way, it's cute.

And here he is shortly after waking up after one of his naps. I love getting him up in the morning or after a nap. He's always so cute and happy and often does a jumping up and down laughing dance for me. He looks a wee bit too tired for that right now though.

Our Poor Attempt to Get Out of the Cold...

I was soooo sick of the cold Utah weather that I mentioned to James that he needed to find an excuse to go to warm California for work so that we could go along for practically free. James figured he probably should go train some guys in San Francisco anyway so that's where we headed. Of course, if I had known that it was going to rain everyday, all day, while down there I may have suggested somewhere else. Apparently it is always rainy in SF. I must have missed the memo.

It was still a lot of fun though. We even ended up staying the weekend so that the three of us could have some extra fun together outside of the couple hours we had each evening before Joshua went to bed.

Our hotel downtown was right next to this China Town entrance.

Aquarium by Fishermans Wharf

Joshua's first hamburger...and a big one at that! He liked it of course. He's our "little carnivore".

We met Good Ole Abe...

Took a look at Alcatraz (although we never had the time to go over)...

Had some yummy chocolate and ice cream at Ghirardelli Square...

Walked all the way over to the Golden Gate Bridge from downtown in the RAIN...

After which Joshua was really exhausted.

It was a fun week!

My thoughts on "801"

I do not like it in a box.
I do not like it with a fox.
I do not like it in a house.
I do not like it with a mouse.
I do not like it here or there.
I do not like it anywhere.
I do not like using 8 0 1
I do not like it Rachel I am.
