Joshua...

Joshua finally said his first prayer the other day. It went something like this... "Heavenly Father, thank you for cars, trains, thank you for Sesame Street, Word World and then some other stuff I couldn't understand.  You can tell what he considers important in his life!

We have been doing reading time each day. Joshua gets to choose some books then sits on a chair for 10-20 minutes and "reads". He has lots of fun.

Joshua's new favorite sleeping position. He is lying across his pillow.

Joshua continues to be obsessed with cars.

Joshua got a duck and frog towel. He is obsessed with them. He loves getting out of the bath because he gets to put one of them on and act like that animal. His imagination has really gone wild lately. It is so fun to watch him pretend. He constantly talks about dinosaurs, garbage trucks, bugs in his mouth (aka germs) and an imaginary cat outside he is going to chase.

Sticky Notes Galore

I love sticky notes. I have them all over the place. I took this photo yesterday. Believe it or not but there is one more sticky note on my desk now.

I also got  new computer. Look how much cleaner my desk top is now. Pretty amazing difference. I think I have 10 less cords on my desk now (they used to be stuffed dangerously behind the computer).

3 months old!

That's right. Jacob is already 3 months old. I can hardly believe so much time has gone by. He's still a very sweet baby and is growing like a weed!

I just love it how babies like to look at their hands. Jacob is starting to grab things now (mainly links bc they are easy to grab:). He even sometimes gets them into his mouth. So fun to watch!

Jacob is snoozing after a long day at church. He loves to cram his face right into me and refuses to have it sideways. I have no idea how that is comfortable.

Grandma

We recently visited my mom's grave site since it's been seven years since she died. I wasn't sure how to explain things to Joshua, so I told him that the cemetery was a place where we put stones to remember people that are in Heaven with Heavenly Father and Jesus. It was especially confusing to tell him about his grandma bartlett there because my step mom is grandma bartlett too!  Anyway, we had a lot of fun walking around looking at gravestones. The provo cemetery is a really pretty place if you haven't been there before.

We also stopped by my nephew's gravestone. There is an entire area with baby gravestones. It's hard to go near the area without getting sad. At least I know they are happy in heaven :)

70th Birthday Celebration

For my dad's 70th birthday he wanted to go camping. We went to the Castle Rock Campground for a few days which is where he used to go all the time when he was scout master. Like usual, it was a tons of fun to hang out with everyone (my dad, stepmom kathy and 2 of my siblings and their families went). Admittedly camping (and naps) with a 2 month old and 2 year old was a little difficult as you can imagine. We are sorry to all those who had to listen to an overtired 2 year old whine!

Notice how the cupcakes make the number 70.

Jacob spent much of his time sleeping in a sling. Notice the rock design my brother is putting near the entrance of his tent. He is one funny guy.

What cute little feet!

James and Jacob

Joshua was so tired that he walked over to James, put his head on James' leg and fell asleep. This has never happened before. Our little boy is not one to give in to sleep! Of course, he had to hold onto his chips when he fell asleep.

Joshua got really cranky and we thought a little time to himself would help. We had him play in his playpen/bed with some toys for a little bit and before we knew it, he was smiling and happy again. What a nice view he had!

Bill made a huge fire.

Alex had fun playing with Joshua in all the caves nearby

You can see why they call it Castle Rock.

101 Reasons...

I've been sitting at home feeling a little bad for myself.

I have a bad yeast infection that I've been dealing with for the last three weeks after Jacob got thrush and passed it on to me. We've been working on treating it but it hasn't been working. I had to throw away all my storage of pumped milk (never fun to do) because I wasn't sure how long the infection had been going on and I didn't want to have yeast in my stored milk.

So now I'm at home with the kiddos while James is on our date night by himself (at a college football game) because there no longer are bottles of pumped milk for a grandma/pa to give Jacob and I didn't want to take him to such a crowded place. I generally like breastfeeding and I'm glad I'm doing it, but I will admit that sometimes (like right now when I am in horrible pain from the infection that won't go away) it is hard and feels like a sacrifice.

As I was looking online for the instructions to use gentian violet I came upon this page of 101 Reasons to Breastfeed. Number 17 especially popped out to me since I was recently diagnosed with this disease and it runs in families.

Breastfeeding may not always be easy, but I'm pretty sure I will never regret doing it.
