Jacob at 9 months

Wow. I can't believe so much time has gone by! The last few months Jacob has started to show more personality. Or maybe he is just showing a bit more of a feisty personality so I'm really noticing it! He loves to scream. We are not so fond of it. He is finally starting to show some desire to move around but hasn't gotten very far with any skills. I'm not too upset. The sitting but can't/doesn't want to move stage is a favorite of mine. He does love to stand on his legs. In fact, he is starting to get upset sometimes when you sit him on your lap because he wants to stand on your lap instead.
He loves books, water and eating solid foods although he gets upset if the food is not presented the way he wants. I have no idea what way this is, but he seems to often get upset while eating. Remember that screaming I mentioned? This is a favorite screaming time. He eats most of what we eat right now. Crazy huh? Joshua definitely wasn't doing that at this age. I'll have a post more about that later (assuming I ever catch up with things).

He usually takes two 2 hour naps a day and sleeps about 12 hours at night. The thing that is especially nice with sleeping is that anyone can put him down to sleep and he goes down without a peep.

He's got a case of separation anxiety and is starting to have stranger anxiety as well. He usually ends up spending some of his day in a baby carrier so that I can get some stuff done. If you know me you know I LOVE my carriers. It is nice to have a baby that appreciates them too :)

Weight: 22 lbs
Length: 30.5 in
Head Circumference: ?
(the nurse was behind so I never found out any of the %tiles or the head circumference)
For reference, here he is at 2 weeks, 2 months4 months and 6 months.

 Jacob has an extreme Mohawk.

Joshua and Jacob

Joshua and Jacob adore each other. Jacob already tries to imitate Joshua (he's picked up that cars and trains are the best toys) and smiles and giggles any time he hears or sees him. Joshua continues to smother (and I mean smother) Jacob with hugs every time he sees him.

What more could a parent want?

Here are way too many pictures of them together. I couldn't help myself.

Joshua starts off gentle and sweet...
But often ends up overdoing things.

The kids love being read to.

Such great playmates.

Joshua loves to snuggle up close to Jacob (which, sadly, often results in tears after their heads collide)

Joshua has such pride in his eyes when he interacts with Jacob. Jacob isn't always so sure about what is going on.

A new favorite hobby.

It starts out nice...
And ends with a head in the face like usual.

Some impromptu snap shots Sharon took...

A great, big, huge hug!

Best buddies

I love Jacob's expression here. Trying to get him to look at the camera and not at mommy was quite a challenge!

Likely, this was caused by a head knocking or squeezing to smithereens incident...
which joshua responded to with a "It's OK Jacob, It's OK."

Look at the camera Jacob, not mama!

Joshua holding Jacob

I wrote this post in August. Not sure why it never got posted...

The idea to hold Jacob never occurred to Joshua for some reason. I was actually really glad about this since Joshua got sick right after Jacob was born and I was trying to keep Jacob healthy. I suggested that Joshua hold Jacob when he was a few (or so) weeks old and since then Joshua has been obsessed with holding Jacob. He asks me to hold him constantly which is really sweet, but the process of him holding him, without squeezing him to smithereens, isn't so sweet! I do love how proud Joshua looks every time he holds Jacob (he's about 8 weeks old here).

You can tell from the second photo that Jacob isn't such a fan of Joshua holding him. In this photo Joshua is putting his face up close to Jacob which is a hobby of his. It's almost like he is trying to kiss him, but instead of kissing him, he just presses his face to his.
